“Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome.” -Booker T. Washington.
IIT JEE 2013 is barely two months away. It is obvious that candidates must be feeling very anxious and nervous. They are busy preparing for the exam and each one of them wishes to qualify with a good rank. Students are applying different strategies into studies and revising the syllabus rigorously. This is the time when they require encouragement and a ‘Positive Push’ from their mentors and parents. Thus, to motivate them and to boost up their confidence a little, here are a few success stories of JEE Toppers:
Arpit Aggarwal: IIT JEE 2012 Topper
He has been the IIT JEE Topper 2012 with a score of 385 out of 408 in the exam. He is a resident of Faridabad, and was a student of Modern Vidya Niketan Senior Secondary School. His key to success was Proper planning and time management.
Arpit’s advice to future JEE aspirants is, “Get your fundamentals right”. He feels that students must learn to plan their study and identify their actual destination ahead. They must learn to balance their schools studies, boards and entrance exam preparations equally and follow strong strategies for it.
He also agrees that extra-curricular activities like sports, drama, literature or whatever else interests a person are equally important.
Prudhvitej Immadi: IIT JEE 2011 Topper
An unusual IIT Topper who does not have stories of spending long hours at study and rigorous revisions. He shared that he enjoyed preparing for IIT-JEE. He also accepted that he had faced a tough time in class XI while learning the fundamental concepts.
He was sixteen when he topped the IIT JEE exam and probably the youngest to score AIR 1 in the history of IITs. He nursed only one ambition to become an IAS officer. He said,”I scored well because IIT was not the be-all and end-all of my life“.
He was a student of Sri Chaitanya Junior College, Vijayawada. He and his family resides in Tirumala in the West Godavari belt.

Tremendous memory power helped Shubham Mehta to score second rank in IIT JEE 2012. His teachers claimed that he never forget what he read. He had scored 92.8% in his class XII board exams. As his mother says, “Shubham is a complete bookworm.”
He wanted to be a computer engineer and desired to join IIT Powai. He also aspires to pursue his post graduation from Massachusetts Institute of technology.
- Rumandla Nishant: IIT JEE 2012 AIR 4
For Nishant, it was a dream come true to badge the All-India-Rank 4 at IIT JEE 2012. He attributes his success to his parents who were lenient to him throughout his preparation.
He said that his parents never pressurized him for studies and also gave him sufficient time to relax and recreate himself in-between the study hours.
Nishant resides in Nizamabad and desired to study B Tech in computer engineering or electronics at IIT Mumbai.
Presently, girls have also scored significantly well AIRs in the JEE Exams. Priya Inala (girls’ topper IIT JEE 2012 AIR 21) and Sumegha Garg (girls’ topper IIT JEE 2011 AIR 12) have qualified the exam with a good rank and also made their parents proud.
Every student is unique and has the ability to reach the top. One should keep trying and give his best efforts. It has been rightly said, “Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.” -by Abraham Lincoln.
